2019 OCAC E-commerce Program for Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs

In support of the government's policy of attracting more investment in Taiwan and to build a platform for exchange between overseas compatriot entrepreneurs and domestic e-commerce companies, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) held the 2019 OCAC E-commerce Program for Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs May 27-31. 27 overseas compatriot entrepreneurs from 18 regions in 13 countries (US, Canada, Paraguay, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, UK, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, New Zealand) with investment capability and interested in investing in domestic e-commerce teams, cooperating with domestic e-commerce companies or assisting Taiwan's e-commerce companies expand into the overseas market took part in the Program. OCAC Deputy Minister Kao Chien-chih chaired the discussion meeting on May 31 and listened to suggestions. The Program featured a visit to the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and on-site visits to nine outstanding domestic e-commerce companies, namely Kuo Brothers Co.,O Health Biotechnology Co., Ding Yung Tien Co.Ltd, Gain How Printing Co., Lativ Co., Lucy Belle Biological Technology Co., EK Store Co., Delicacy Impression Integrated Marketing & Design Consultants Co. and TCY Group.During the visits, participants engaged in exchange and business opportunity discussion with senior managers, gaining an understanding of the current e-commerce situation that allowed them to appreciate the advantages and resources of Taiwan's e-commerce and the Taiwan investment environment. A business discussion meeting with the theme of investing in Taiwan e-commerce was held at which participants had an opportunity to discuss business opportunities with 18 domestic e-commerce companies. A general discussion meeting was also arranged for the morning of May 31. All Program participants said they gained a lot by taking part. Not only will it help them with overseas business operations in future, they are also willing to assist Taiwan e-commerce companies that are interested in expanding in their countries of residence to boost both domestic and overseas e-commerce investment momentum.
