The Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam Junior Chapter held the “Donating rice to help people” event for the first time in Ben Tre on September 9. The aim was to ease the burden on economically disadvantaged people in the city by giving material support and care and also give young entrepreneurs an opportunity to act as volunteers and to personally set an example of helping others in need. A large number of families in need were benefitted. Both beneficiaries and the volunteers said that this activity helped give them positive energy.
Supporting unit Wow Taiwan Milk Tea Group collected VND250 million in donations on the day and also donated a large number of everyday use items to several hundred disadvantaged families.
On the day of this public welfare activity, Council President Li Hung Yi led young entrepreneurs and volunteers to hand out materials to needy families one by one. He expressed the hope that, in future, more people can become involved in this kind of meaningful activity and also that more social enterprises will be encouraged to show compassion and help the disadvantaged.
