Taiwan Junior Chamber of Commerce in BC, Canada Holds Career Planning Seminar, Attracting 100 Plus Attendees

A career planning seminar, organized by the Taiwan Junior Chamber of Commerce in BC (TJCCBC) and sponsored by the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Canada (TCCCA) and Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in B.C. (TCCBC), was held on February 4th at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University, attracting a total of 100 plus attendees. Over ten entrepreneurs in the Vancouver area participated and shared information of their respective industries with overseas youths. TECO-Vancouver Expatriate Division Chief Belinda Chen, Secretary Huang Ching-Yu, OCAC Honorary Senior Advisor Daphne Wu, and OCAC Honorary Advisor Patty Chen also attended upon invitation.

TJCCBC President Kevin Huang was the first to welcome attendees from all sectors and briefed all attendees on the purpose of the seminar, stating that he hoped the seminar would benefit the younger generation in planning their personal career developments. Expatriate Division Chief Belinda Chen also praised the organizers in her remarks for providing this career planning seminar so that youths could gain an insight into the trends and demands in the market. She also explained overseas affairs, introduced the i-Compatriot Card, and encouraged students studying overseas to apply for scholarships in Taiwan.

The seminar first began with former TCCBC President Frank Tseng as the main speaker, who shared his start up experience with attendees, speaking of what to look out for in career planning and start-up companies throughout the different stages in life. The TCCCA President Charles Chang and TCCBC President Tony Hsu also participated in the seminar, giving youngsters at the seminar an insight into their career development. In the second stage of the seminar, 12 start-up owners were stationed at various booths to answer and explain all questions the overseas youths may have on various industries. Compatriot youths who attended the event expressed their gratitude to the organizers for their meticulous planning, and said that the event greatly benefitted them in their future employment directions and career planning.
