On December 12, 2020, the Taiwanese Junior Business Association of New Zealand (TJBANZ) held the "Straight up Career, All About Career Talks Seminar". Professionals including Overseas Community Affairs Council Secretary of the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Auckland New Zealand Allen Chung, Auckland Councilor Paul Young, General Manager of China Airlines in New Zealand Anderson Lin, and Founder and Principal Consultant of Executive Coaching and Consulting Ltd. Jason Dinan were invited to explain to TJBANZ members how to utilize workplace resources, share their own experiences and offer advice about goal setting. On the day, more than 40 responsible people of various groups, TJBANZ members and young people attended. The event went smoothly and was a massive success.

In her opening remarks, President of Taiwanese Junior Business Association of New Zealand Irene Wei thanked the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Auckland New Zealand for their guidance and support as well as thanking the TJBANZ's members for attending. She expressed the hope that the young professionals would gain a lot of inspiration from taking part in the event.

Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Auckland New Zealand Secretary Allen Chung expressed support for the young business people and outlined the services offered by the Office. He also explained the OCAC's innovative policies, overseas compatriot affairs resources sharing and various events and measures for helping young overseas compatriot entrepreneurs. He also introduced the OCAC News e-bulletin, Overseas Compatriot Card, OCAC website and explained the use of APP EUCARE, the free overseas compatriot emergency medical treatment online consulting service.

With his own experience as the subject, lecturer Paul Young encouraged young people to actively set short term and long-term goals and always urge oneself to move towards the goals and to seek progress. He stressed, as an immigrant, while assimilating into local culture it is important to cherish and retain one's own cultural background and be proud of it, making it a characteristic and a strength.

Anderson Lin shared his own experience in the air travel industry, with a focus on the secrets and thinking of crisis handling. He said that in a crisis, you need to think from a different angle and look for alternative directions and solutions; in fact, often crisis is actually opportunity. No matter if success is achieved in the end, at least you have tried and only by trying can there be a chance of success.

Jason Dinan's lecture revolved around setting self-goals. Different goals can be set for family, own interest, career and long-term life planning and the focus and meaning in our own lives searched for. Through question and answer and interaction, the young people were guided to think more deeply about what they ask of themselves and the steps needed to put their goals into practice.

All members took part actively in the four-hour long event. They said that they learned a lot and looked forward to the next TJBANZ event. After a group photo and exchange, the event came to a successful close.
