The "2019 Short-Term In-School Experiential Study Program for Overseas Compatriot Children and Adolescents" was hosted by the Overseas Community Affairs Council, K-12 Education Administration of Ministry of Education, and local governments. The aim of the program is to increase the willingness of overseas compatriots to bring their children back to Taiwan. In 2019, a total of 610 students from 29 countries participated in this program and studied in 43 primary and secondary schools in Taiwan. The program provides overseas compatriot children or adolescents with an opportunity to study alongside their peers in Taiwan, which is a great opportunity to learn about the customs and lifestyles in Taiwan, identify with Taiwanese culture, and develop an emotional attachment to the country.
