The 2019 OCAC Taiwan Aquaculture and Business Startup Workshop was held May 27-June 1. It was attended by 28 overseas compatriot aquaculture business operators from 11 countries, namely the US, Canada, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand and Brunei.
As well as arranging specialized courses, the Workshop also had onsite visits to observe grouper brood fish, ornamental koi car, and giant grouper farms and to the Asia-Pacific Ornamental Fish Center of Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park; there were also special topic lectures including Taiwan’s Current Economic Development and Challenges and Aquaculture Product Market and Development. The general discussion meeting and closing ceremony was hosted by Wong, Shu-Hwa Director-General, Department of Business Affairs, OCAC. Trainees happily said that attending the Workshop had given them a better understanding of the domestic economic development situation and the latest trends in the aquaculture industry and will help in increasing their professional knowledge and assisting the domestic aquaculture industry expand overseas markets.
