The 21st National Convention of Hop Sing Tong Benevolent Association was held in Los Angeles from August 5 to 6, 2017. The Minister of Overseas Community Affairs Council, Wu Hsin-Hsing attended the Opening Ceremony and praised the efforts and contributions that the organization has achieved throughout the years, including seeking the welfare of Chinese ethnic people, preserving traditional Chinese culture, developing the spirit of unity and friendship, and maintaining democracy and freedom.
The convention takes place every five years, hosted by different branches in the USA. The main events of the convention include ancestor worshiping, lion dancing, marching, and ribbon cutting etc. Other than members of Hop Sing Tong Benevolent Association, the leaders of the Consolidated Benevolent Association of Los Angeles and other organizations attend this convention, making the convention a platform for organizations to interact with each other.
