The 2017 Delegations of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai Yunnan Associations in Thailand comprising of 37 people and led by Overall Group Leader Wang Shi-xi and Chiang Rai Group Leader Jiang Qing-guo visited Taiwan from June 25 to July 1. The delegations were received by OCAC Minster Wu when they called on the OCAC on June 26; Wu encouraged overseas compatriot youths from Northern Thailand to come to Taiwan for study and encouraged the visitors to remember their origins and to firmly support the ROC as well. Afterwards, Vice Minister Roy Yuan-rong Leu chaired the Symposium on the Overseas Compatriot Affairs in Northern Thailand, in which the situation of overseas compatriot schools and their requirements were discussed.
The OCAC also invited the former official Taiwan representative in Thailand, the secretary of compatriot affairs and others to attend a dinner held for the visiting delegations to talk about the past. During the time in Taiwan, the delegations were received by the Vice President of ROC and visited The Chinese Association for Relief and Ensuing Services (CARES) and founder of Northern Thailand Home - Madam Qian Qiu-hua. They also took the Taiwan High Speed Railway south to Kaohsiung to visit Chung Shan Industrial & Commercial School which undertakes Cooperative Education Program for Overseas Compatriot Students, Kaohsiung Harbor, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, the Confucius Temple in Tainan, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, Brogent Technologies Inc. and the FFG Group, gaining better understanding of the Taiwanese political, trade and economic construction.
