With the aim of pairing up entrepreneurs from overseas with baking enterprises in Taiwan, the OCAC hosted the Taiwan Baking Industry Investment Program for Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs (2018) October 29- November 2. The event was attended by 34 entrepreneurs from 16 countries spanning 5 continents around the world.
The opening ceremony was held on October 29th, with Wu Hsin-Hsing, Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), extending a warm welcome to these overseas participants for returning to Taiwan. Dr. Wu encouraged these aspiring entrepreneurs to apply what they learned to new business ideas, or expand their business presence while leveraging their local mindsets and a global perspective to align with Taiwan’s finest. Dr. Wu also urged every participant to make good use of the business legacies created by Taiwanese business people overseas to support the government’s effort in international trade advancement.
The Program also included several visits to celebrated businesses in Taiwan, helping participants get a better insight into Taiwan’s baking industry and its future development. A business matchmaking conference, attended by 16 outstanding baking-related companies, served as a platform connecting the overseas entrepreneurs and local companies to promote business cooperation and create a mutual prosperity.
Kao Chien-Chih, Deputy Minister of the OCAC, encouraged participants during the general discussion and farewell lunch on November 2 to seize all business opportunities, assist their fellow entrepreneurs overseas, and be bridges for Taiwan’s baking companies. The OCAC will continue serving the overseas community, discovering business opportunities for both overseas compatriots and Taiwan companies, and providing greater support and building new ties, so that Taiwan’s economy prospers.
