OCAC Hosts Expat Entrepreneurial Visiting Group Representing IoT and Renewable Energy Solutions Communities for the 2017 Kickstarter on "Five Plus Two" Innovative Industries

In keeping with the government's "Five plus Two" innovative industries development program, the OCAC enlisted the support of overseas expat Taiwanese communities to help boost the growth of local innovators devoted to IoT, renewable energy solutions, and circular economy projects, and hosted "Expat Entrepreneurial Visiting Group Representing IoT and Renewable Energy Solutions Communities for the 2017 Kickstarter on 'Five Plus Two' Innovative Industries between November 13 and 17.

The Visiting Group was joined by 17 expat Taiwanese entrepreneurs from 13 regions spanning South Africa, Mexico, the United States, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, and Canada. The trip included onsite visits to the Bureau of Energy under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Shalun Green Energy Science City Office (MOST), Southern Taiwan Science Park, Asia Silicon Valley Development Agency, and Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan. The entrepreneurs also stopped by Neo Solar Power Corporation, POWER MASTER Technology Co., Ltd., Taiwan Intelligence Service Company, Ltd., Chang Hong Co., Ltd., Jinlun Music Co., Ltd., and Chung-Hsin Electric & Machinery Mfg. Corp. A symposium on business partnership pair-ups and a general discussion were held on the morning of November 17, where local IoT service providers and renewable solutions makers exchanged opinions and experiences. The meetings were graced by representatives from the National Development Council, Ministry of Economic Affairs (Invest Taiwan Service Center), the Ministry of Science and Technology (Shalun Green Energy Science City Office), who acted as facilitators to encourage business alliances and technology exchange possibilities, boosting investment and development in innovative industries.
