Master Zhū's Maxims says “Wake up at dawn to tidy” while the OCAC news correspondents “log in at midnight to learn”, the teachers were impressed by the positive attitude in Online Distance Learning Program for OCAC News Correspondents, and were inspired to share all their knowledge. 146 members have learned to write press release, operation of new medias and catch a scene by phone in a total 31 hours program. They not only improved the sensitiveness of news and professional skills, and also successfully become great power in news industry.
Not only the students are hardworking, the teachers also mark the assignments attentively, and gave the grades with deep consideration, fear that they would unintentionally hurt the feeling of the members. As teacher Zhao-Shi Huang said “I read through every assignment 3 times”, and eventually give out prizes of Extraordinary and Excellent, along with certification. Vice Minister Roy Yuan-Rong Leu encouraged the members in the closing ceremony to use what was learned in this program and discover stories in the overseas Taiwanese community, make those stories into news and spread out to create a path in news industry for Taiwan and let the world see Taiwan’s power. Shu-Chen Guo of the Overseas Community News Agency also encourage the members to “submit often and report anytime” to distribute the news in the overseas community.
As COVID-19 pandemic continues, the online program will also keep going, to connect our study, our care and love with a thread. This Online Distance Learning Program for OCAC News Correspondents received great feedback, so let us expect the next time to meet again.
