The Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), Chen-Yuan Tung, showed up in the studio in the early morning at 7:50, instructing the staff to begin the Online Distance Learning Program for OCAC News Correspondents in the upcoming month.
This is the greeting from Mr. Tung in the beginning “Good morning, good afternoon and good evening to all the news correspondents around the world”, it was because this program involves 136 members from five continents, which could be described as a worldwide program. In addition, they’ve invited anchor Chin-Yu Tsai to host the opening with Mr. Tung, using a delightful interaction to start the program, shows how much effort OCAC have spent to design the program.
The Minister pointed out that OCAC news correspondents are like pearls scattering around the world, we hope to let them shine and be seen by the world. There are so many touching stories and precious scenes, and it would be a shame if they weren’t recorded. Therefore, we hope, through the pen and camera of these OCAC news correspondents, the valuable news could be seen and understood by Taiwanese people and also everyone around the globe, and keep a record in the history.
The Minister also prepared a generous present. For those attend 28 hours out of total 31 hours lessons, a certification will be granted, and also there will be a raise for future honorarium, between $30 to $70 USD. The chairman expects more oversea members will sign up in the future, and make the pearls become more and shinier, enable more people to know Taiwan, understand Taiwan, and like Taiwan.
The Minister also encouraged all members of OCAC, with the society and world changing, it will require language certificate, technical certificate and digital certificate to follow the trend and stay competent of the jobs, do not miss this great opportunity to learn. At last, the Minister  had a photo taken with all the online OCAC news correspondents and officially started the online training program of today.
