The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) held the OCAC 2019 Taiwan Franchise Industry Program for Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs
from September 30th to October 4th. 22 overseas compatriot entrepreneurs from 14 countries took part. OCAC Minister Wu Hsin-hsing chaired a general discussion meeting and the closing ceremony accompanied by Director General of the OCAC Department of Business Affairs Wong Shu-hwa. Minister Wu  stated  that Taiwan has substantial experience with regard chain and franchise operating models. The fashion for Portuguese custard tarts a few years ago to bubble milk tea sweeping across the world are examples of store expansion of Taiwan chain brands. The OCAC held this program to give overseas compatriot entrepreneurs with an interest in cooperating with the domestic chain and franchise industries an exchange and matching platform, hoping that it will assist with their business operation as well as help domestic enterprises open up overseas  channels. Program participants said they hope to be able to take part in further related courses. Two special topic lectures and visits to eight high quality domestic chain and franchise companies were arranged; participants also went to the Taipei International Chain and Franchise Autumn Exhibition held at the Taipei World Trade Center where business opportunity matching meetings were held.
