2019 Green Energy Industry Program for Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs

In support of the government’s policy of attracting more investment in Taiwan and of nurturing the 5+2 innovative industries, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) held the Green Energy Industry Program for Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs September 2-6, 2019. The Program was attended by 11 overseas compatriot entrepreneurs, coming from 5 counties, having investment capability and being interested in cooperating with Taiwan’s green energy industry operators. It built an exchange platform for overseas compatriot entrepreneurs and Taiwan’s green energy industry. In the five days of the Program, participants visited the Bureau of Energy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taichung Harbor Wind Farm and Taiwan’s largest solar power plant at present-Changbin Solar Power Field, as well as visiting five green energy industry companies in Taipei Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung and Tainan, respectively, for business opportunity discussion. A green energy industry forum and a business opportunity matching meeting were also arranged, in which related companies were invited to take part in; face to face exchange and discussion promoted investment in the domestic green energy industry by the overseas compatriot entrepreneurs and assisted Taiwan’s green energy industry operators to expand their overseas markets, achieving a win-win situation. OCAC Deputy Minister Kao Chien-chih hosted the opening and closing ceremony; he said that developing substitute energy is the international trend and that the government’s promotion of new energy policies has seen excellent results in terms of driving the development of the self-sufficient autonomous green energy industry. He said that the aim of the OCAC in holding the Program was to let overseas compatriot entrepreneurs know about the tremendous capability of the domestic green energy industry and to promote business opportunity exchange with the domestic green energy industry, as well as to achieve the objectives of attracting investment in Taiwan and helping domestic green energy industry operators expand their overseas markets. In the general discussion, participants said they had learned a lot, had gained a better understanding of Taiwan’s energy policy and had unearthed many business opportunities. They also thanked the OCAC for being attentive towards overseas compatriots.
