The commencement for the 1st term of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Language Study Program for Expatriate Youth was held at the China Youth Corps’ Chientan Youth Activity Center on the afternoon of January 30, 2019. Senior Executive Officer Lin Hong-Ying of the OCAC Department of Student Affairs and Section Chief Hung Chi-chou of the China Youth Corps were in attendance on behalf of their respective organizations. The 53 students came from nine countries including Panama, Peru, Chile, Argentina, the US, Paraguay, Canada, South Korea and Japan.
In addition to being presented with graduation certificates, at the ceremony the students thanked the OCAC for providing them with the opportunity to travel to Taiwan to study Chinese and also showed off their learning achievements over the past month in the form of theatre, song and dance performances etc., showcasing how diligently they studied. Other than increasing their Chinese language ability and understanding of Taiwanese culture, participants also made a lot of friends on the program and hoped to meet up once again in Taiwan in the future.
