The Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce Los Angeles (TJCCLA) held the Intellectual Property Rights Lecture on December 2, 2018. At the interactive event, Michael Chen, a lawyer from the Law Offices of Scott Warmuth specializing in intellectual property rights litigation, talked about patent, trademark and copyright and how to use intellectual property rights to enhance competitiveness, and shared his related experience.
Michael works in the area of intellectual property law and US patent law and focuses on intellectual property rights (patent, trademark and copyright), prosecution and litigation legal support. He utilizes his diverse knowledge background and technical expertise, including chemistry, nano/bio-tech, microfluidics technology, semi-conductor manufacturing/packaging, in-vehicle navigation equipment/systems, software, mechanical equipment, and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) patent application and rights infringement litigation. He was also a research scientist for a hand-held DNA testing developed by a bio-tech startup.
In face of an increasingly competitive business environment, intellectual property rights are the new focal points for enterprise profit and international compettiveness. Intellectual property rights include the results of intellectual creation: inventions, literature and works of art and symbols, and names, images and exterior designs used in business. Individuals, startups, SMEs or large corporations all need to carry out protection and planning with regard intellectual property rights.
