The OCAC established the Overseas Youth Vocational Training School in 1963 with the aim of assisting overseas Chinese youth to come to Taiwan to study excellent traditional culture and receive production skills training to give them useful skills. The courses offered are diverse, including hospitality and culinary skills, baking, beauty care, information networking technology and digital media, and also practical technical courses such as mechanics, electronics and auto repair. The training period for each discipline is two years. In the last 50 years more than 17,000 people have been trained and all the graduates have, after returning home, used what they have learned in Taiwan to assist with the economic development of their home country, making a substantial contribution.
