In order to provide in-service training for early childhood education teachers from Myanmar, the Overseas Community Affairs Council held "106 Training Program for Early Childhood Teachers from Myanmar" at NTNU (National Taiwan Normal University) Extension School of Continuing Education from October 15th to November 2nd. Over 35 Mandarin teachers joined this program to advance their professional knowledge and teaching skills.

The training program consisted of Children's Chinese Poetry Teaching Method, Children’s Music and Movement, Using Picture Books in Teaching and Children's Emotional Competence. In addition, local early childhood teachers were invited to share their teaching experience, which was beneficial for participants to improve their knowledge and teaching skills.

On November 2nd, the closing ceremony was hosted by Chiu-Chin Tien, the Deputy Minister of OCAC, and Miao-Gui Yan, the Professor of NTNU. During the ceremony, Ms. Tien expressed her respect to teachers who have been dedicated to education in Myanmar. Moreover, Ms. Tien said it is expected that holding more Mandarin training programs overseas is going to help promote Taiwanese culture.

Apart from the academic courses, this program also provided the participants with the experience of Taiwanese culture, including visiting Kindergartens, Puppetry Art Center of Taipei, Lanyang Museum and National Center for Traditional Arts.

The OCAC hopes participants will utilize what they have learned in Taiwan to help promote Taiwanese culture around the world.
