In light of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the shortage of medical resources in the Philippines, which leads to the infection and death of many health care workers, the Taiwan Association Philippine Youth Chapter has formed the“AUST FMS 2010” which is composed of eight graduate doctors from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the Philippines. They’ve jointly donated masks and other protective equipments to many hospitals.
Ms. Shirleen, President of the Taiwan Association Philippine Youth Chapter, said that with the concerted efforts of Taiwanese people in the Philippines, they’ve raised 170,000 pesos in a short time and ordered 3,000 hospital masks, 250 PPEs, 3,750 pairs of disposable gloves, 500 medical masks and other protective gears/equipments. The AUST FMS 2010 team in turn arranges for the distribution of the above to the following medical institutions: Philippine Heart Center, Dr. Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, Queson City General Hospital, San Juan Medical Hospital, Bicol Medical Center, Montalban Infirmary, etc.
The kindness of the members of the Taiwan Association Philippine Youth Chapter does not lag behind. They’ve helped and supported the front-line health care workers with practical action. And they’ve also carried out the ideas of  #TaiwanCanHelp, and #TaiwanIsHelping to set a good example for the overseas Taiwanese youth to give back to the host community.
