In a move to assist the government with its New Southbound Policy, promote tourism in Taiwan, and encourage expats to return to the island for fun-filled tours, OCAC organized "2017 Tour Program for Southeast Asia-Based Taiwan Tourism Service Promoters" between October 23 and 27, with Shih Chien University in charge of hosting the program. OCAC Vice Minister Roy Yuan-Rong Leu presided over the welcome lunch, where 17 expat Taiwanese tourism representatives and managers from Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar, Brunei and Indonesia were present.

Vice minister Leu, on behalf of OCAC, welcomed the attendees to the program. He credited Shih Chien University for the wonderfully planned program - "Taiwan the Beautiful, Taiwan the Wonderful, Taiwan the Gracious Host, and Eco-Taiwan for Sustainable Tours." He encouraged participants to embrace Taiwan's cultural diversity, and experience Taiwan with a new perspective to market the island's soft-power tourism to the world.

Leu also asked the attendees to take advantage of Taiwan's world-renowned, quality medical services for a physical checkup. He urged attendees to share their sights and sounds of Taiwan upon returning to their country of residence, and help promote "Time for Taiwan Travel, NOW," to buoy the country's international visibility.
