Taipei, May 24 (CNA) A woman from Hong Kong, who arrived in Taiwan on Wednesday for a family holiday, became the 2 millionth inbound visitor to arrive in the country this year and also won a lucky draw for a prize worth NT$5,000 (US$162), the Tourism Bureau said.
Chan Yee Ling arrived with three family members at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Wednesday evening for a six-day trip, during which they plan to visit attractions in northern Taiwan, such as Taipei Zoo, the bureau said in a statement.
This is Chan's third visit to Taiwan, and first family trip since countries around the world began easing travel restrictions, the bureau said, noting that Taiwan opened to tourists from Hong Kong and Macau on Feb. 20.
The bureau did not say whether Chan chose to receive the NT$5,000 on a stored value card which can be spent on a variety of items, or vouchers which have to be spent on accommodation, when she registered for the lucky draw before traveling to Taiwan.

During the first four months of 2023, the country recorded 1.62 million visitors, most from Hong Kong, followed by South Korea and Japan, said the bureau, which did not provide official figures.
However, the bureau did mention that Taiwan recorded around 101,800 visitors from Hong and Macau in April, and the two Chinese special administrative regions together were the top source of non Republic of China (Taiwan) passport holding visitors to Taiwan last month.
In addition to the NT$5,000 lucky draw launched on May 1 for independent foreign visitors planning to stay in Taiwan for three days or more, the bureau said it is also offering subsidies of NT$5,000-$50,000 to operators of group tours to Taiwan, as it seeks to attract 6 million foreign visitors by the end of the year.
