Tokyo, May 9 (CNA) Three Taiwanese nationals, including former representative to Japan Koh Se-kai, were decorated by the Japanese government Tuesday.

Koh, along with Theodore Huang, head of the TECO Group, and Huang Tien-lin, chairman of the Taiwan-Japan Cultural and Economic Association, are among Japan's spring foreigner honors list.

The medal-conferring ceremony was held at the Tokyo Imperial Palace, with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in attendance.

Koh told CNA after receiving the medal that the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association said the reason for his being honored is because during his stint as representative to Japan between 2004 and 2008, Taiwan-Japan relations were the best since the two severed diplomatic ties in 1972.
