Eta meteor shower to peak on May 6: museum
Taipei, April 29 (CNA) Stargazers in Taiwan will have an opportunity to see the Eta Aquarid meteor shower when it peaks on May 6, the Taipei Astronomical Museum said Saturday.
Astronomy buffs can expect to see up to 50 shooting stars per hour during the peak period from May 5-6, according to the museum.
Sky watchers in mountainous and suburban areas where there are no bright lights or air pollution will be able to see the shooting stars with the naked eye, the museum said.
In central Taiwan, Hehuanshan or Alishan will be good viewing spots, while in northern Taiwan, Yangmingshan will be best, the museum suggested.
It advised that people look at the sky in the southeast to see the shooting stars.
