Taipei, April 29 (CNA) Taiwan's Tai Tzu-ying, the world's top-ranked women's badminton player, defeated Lee Jang Mi of South Korea on Saturday to reach the finals of the women's singles at the Badminton Asia Championships 2017 in Wuhan, China.

After beating Lee in the semifinals in two straight games, 21-8 and 21-16, Tai will face Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the final.

The Japanese player, the second seed in the tournament, emerged as the other finalist after defeating He Bingjiao of the host country, 21-15 and 21-19, in the other semifinal match played Saturday.

Tai has won five BWF (Badminton World Federation) super series titles in a row, remaining unbeatable in international competitions since she climbed to the world No. 1 spot on Dec. 1 last year. Her latest win was at the 2017 World BWF Super Series Singapore Open Badminton Championship on April 16.
