Taipei, Aug. 22 (CNA) Taiwan has won Little League Baseball's Junior League World Series for the fourth consecutive year after defeating an American team from Hawaii in the championship game on Sunday in Taylor, Michigan.

The Taiwanese team, made up of players from Shing-Ming Junior High School in Taoyuan, pounced on the team from Hawaii with a two- run home run in the first and two more runs in the second on the way to a 9-1 victory.

Taiwan's Lee Chen-hsun pitched a seven-inning complete game, allowing only three hits, including a solo home run, while striking out seven, to secure the victory.

Huang Chao-wei hit a two-run homer to open the scoring in the first inning and left no doubt about the outcome with a two-run double in the top of the sixth that gave Taiwan an 8-1 lead.

Taiwan was undefeated in five games during the tournament, topping teams representing Australia, Europe-Africa, and Mexico in the elimination round before ousting Mexico 6-2 in the semifinal game to set up the championship contest against Hawaii.

Taiwanese teams from Taoyuan in 2013 and Taichung in 2014 and 2015 had won the tournament the previous three years.
